Dear Parents

Local Schools League Table
Our school has been awarded a new place in the Local Schools League Table from 13th to 4th! Only 3 local schools had higher pupil progress indicators. Thank you to all our staff and Mrs Pickard, pupils and parents for working so hard to achieve this improvement.

Mumps
The school has been informed of a parent with a confirmed case of Mumps, for further information and advice please contact NHS Direct 0845 4647 or on their website www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk

Ukulele Club
Next week 9th December will be the last session for this year.

Christmas Postbox
We will be providing St Jude’s unique Christmas Postal Service again this year, our post box will be in the entrance area. Please ensure your child puts their friend’s full name and class on the envelope so that our postal workers can deliver the items.

Parent Support Advisor
Sarah Allman, our school’s Parent Support Advisor, will be available every Wednesday morning 9:00 to 10:30, for a ‘Drop in Surgery’. She is there for you to discuss any of the many challenges of being a parent! This is a confidential service, there is no need to make an appointment through our school office, just call in and ask to speak to Sarah Allman. She is also contactable by phone: 02392 259214 or email.

SVP Hampers for the Elderly
We would be most grateful if you could provide an item for hampers to be delivered to the elderly in our community. The SVP will be collecting all goods on 7th December. If you would prefer to donate £1.00 for school staff to purchase the items, please send it in an envelope marked ‘SVP Hampers for the Elderly’. To ensure we get the goods that SVP have requested we would be grateful if you could send the following:

  • Reception: box of 6 Mince Pies
  • Year 1: 100g individual Christmas Pudding
  • Year 2: 212g tin Red Salmon
  • Year 3: 250g tin Fruit Salad
  • Year 4: 170g tin Cream
  • Year 5: Packet of Chocolate Biscuits
  • Year 6: Small box of Chocolates

Thank you for supporting this initiative, which links our school with the elderly in our local community.

Christmas Dinners
Wednesday 16 Christmas dinner for KS1 children, KS2 will need a packed lunch

Thursday 17 Christmas dinner for KS2 children, KS1 will need a packed lunch

Orders for Christmas meals MUST be handed into the school office no later than Tuesday 8 December.

Strings Concert
Years 5 and 6 will be having a Violin and Cello concert for parents on Tuesday 8 December at 9.30a.m

Christmas Market
Children can buy presents for Mum, Dad or Grandparents and helped by Year 6 children to wrap them to take home as surprise presents for the family. Children can bring in £1.00 (maximum £2.00) on Wednesday 9 December.

Christmas Performances Tickets will be allocated at 2 per family available from Monday 7 December from the school office.

Jumping Jacks
Nursery and After School Club will close for the Christmas break at 6pm on 18 December and will reopen 4th January 2010 at 7.30a.m.

CrossCountry, Netball and Football
This week 2nd December is the last week for Cross Country, Netball and Wednesday Football practices. Practices will resume after the Christmas holidays. Many thanks to Alex and Rose-Marie Roberts, Mrs Yvonne Byrne, Mr Tweddle, Mr Doyle, Mrs Slattery, Ms Cosgriff, Mr Lindsay and Mrs Wild, for fantastic sports support. Well done to all of the children who have displayed very good skills and excellent sportsmanship.
