14th May 2009 - Weekly Newsletter

Dear Parents

Coming home with your newsletter today:!!!

  • Dates for diaries
St Jude's Catholic Primary School - Partnership

Ofsted
I have now seen the draft report from our Ofsted inspection on 5th & 6th May. I have requested some corrections for factual information and I should now receive the final report just after the half term holiday. You will receive a copy as soon as we have it!

Meanwhile it’s ‘business as usual’! Some parents have expressed concern about Yr1/2 watching a DVD after the inspection – this activity was planned as part of the Undersea Adventure long before we heard from Ofsted!

Electronic communications to parents
Please return your slip with your email address if you want to take advantage of this service. We hope to start using this service after the half term holidays.

Non-Uniform Days
Our PFA have requested that children are allowed 2 non-uniform days on Friday 5th & 12th June - so that they can bring in goods for sale at our PFA Summer Fayre on Saturday 13th June.

On Friday 5th June please send in bottles and on Friday 12th June please send in cakes - Thank You!

Individual classes will be responsible for running stalls on the day – more details next week!

Mass – Wednesday 20th May
We will be celebrating a special Mass for Mary, Mother of God, next week as May is Mary’s Month. All parents, grandparents and carers are warmly invited to attend this special celebration.

Jumping Jacks and Kool Dudes
Both our ‘sister’ organisations will be open during half term – EXCEPT for the Bank Holiday on Monday 25th May. If you want to use these services please contact Mrs Paula Cantillon for Jumping Jacks and Mrs Janet Williams for Kool Dudes. Pupil places are limited - so apply now to avoid disappointment!

Toddler Group – Wednesday Mornings 10am to 11.30am
Did you know that a toddler group meets at our school every Wednesday morning? Just ‘drop-in’ for a chat with other parents and carers over a cup of tea or coffee, while your child plays with a range of toys.

Water Bottles
Children must have a drink bottle to be able to use our water cooling facilities. They are available at 20p each at morning play.

Baby Bel Cheese
If you want your child to eat this particular type of cheese, please pre-peel it and send it in a plastic bag as the wax wrappers are being dropped and sticking to our hall floors!

Year 5 Stubbington Trip
Apologies from the Admin Office for the confusion over the dates in the recent Stubbington Trip letter.

ACHIEVEMENT SECTION
Congratulations to Kieran Page who received the Chief Scout Silver Award, which is the highest award a Cub can achieve. Kieran was presented this award by the District Commissioner while on District Camp at Lyons Copse over the weekend.

Well done to Finlay Harrison who won the District Beaver Competition to design a badge for the District Camp. This badge will be worn by all ‘Scouters’ who attend the District Camp.
